ICMR - National Institute of Malaria Research (ICMR-NIMR)
Established in 1977, the ICMR-National Institute of Malaria Research is a premier institute under the Indian Council of Medical Research, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. With a mandate to find solutions to malaria and other vector-borne diseases through research, ICMR-NIMR conducts fundamental, applied, and operational research. The institute is actively engaged in capacity building through training and workshops, technology transfer, and collaborative efforts with national programs and state health departments. ICMR-NIMR, along with its field units, plays a pivotal role in identifying gaps and providing solutions for vector-borne disease control across different states in India. Additionally, the institute serves as a WHO collaborating center for insecticide testing and contributes to the development and evaluation of new insecticides, bio-larvicides, mosquito nets, medicines, and diagnostic kits for national programs.
