The International Malaria Conference 2026, on “Discovery, Development, and Delivery: Driving malaria elimination and Beyond”, hosted by National Institute of Malaria Research (ICMR-NIMR) is centred on the ICMR’s core areas of – “Discovery, Development, and Delivery”. ICMR-NIMR (National Institute of Malaria Research) functions as the research arm for India’s national malaria control program by providing essential scientific support to find short-term and long-term solutions to malaria. As malaria control and elimination programs are ongoing across several countries, this platform will give all the stakeholders an opportunity for sharing the progress made in achieving these goals for the larger benefit of nations who are at the cross -roads of elimination program. This conference will address critical challenges, foster essential collaborations, and accelerate the application of biotech innovations to combat the disease. This IMC organised by ICMR-NIMR is a crucial step in the ongoing national effort, with the aim to give momentum to elimination programs with latest scientific and operational solutions for a malaria-free India by 2030.

The targeted audience would be scientists, doctoral/postdoctoral candidates, and all who are interested in malaria/vector-borne disease involving recent discovery, development, and delivery research focused on driving malaria elimination. Speakers from across the country and globe will discuss and provide technical/professional impetus that will be critical towards guiding the national program and aiming to eliminate malaria worldwide.

Key objectives include:

  • Planning: Acknowledging that elimination is an ongoing process, the IMC 2026 will address the need for perpetual maintenance, adaptation, and preparing for future threats.

  • Providing impetus to malaria elimination: Discussing and offering technical and professional momentum to the malaria elimination initiatives across India.

  • Fostering biotech innovations: Applying new biotechnological tools and strategies across the three key phases: discovering new tools, developing them for broad use, and effectively delivering them to affected regions.

  • Sharing global knowledge: Sharing worldwide knowledge, including innovative and operational solutions, with all stakeholders on a unified platform.
